South Alberta Regiment

The South Alberta Regiment (SAR) was created in 1924, and then mobilized in 1940 when the 4th Canadian Infantry Division was reorganized as an armoured formation during the Second World War. The SAR fought in the Invasion of Normandy and participated in the liberation of Holland and ended the war in northern Germany.

Today the South Alberta Regiment is perpetuated by the reserve reconnaissance regiment, the South Alberta Light Horse.

Motto, "Semper Alacer", which is Latin for "Always Alert".
