The Military Museums

The Military Museums welcomes the donation of historical material to our archival collection. This can include any artifacts, memorabilia, medals, journals, log books, archival film, video and other items of historical significance related to Canada's involvement in global conflicts.

Articles related to the three branches of the Armed Services from any era back to before Confederation are welcomed, including material related to the founding regiments of The Military Museums in Western Canada. Donations of books, manuscripts or posters can be made to the UCalgary Library & Archives.

The founding regiments include, the Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians), Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, The Calgary Highlanders and the King's Own Calgary Regiment (103rd Regiment, Calgary Rifles) and the 14th Army Tank Regiment (Calgary Tanks).

Guidelines for Donations

We request that the following information is included (if possible) with your donation to The Military Museums.

  1. When was the item originally acquired?
  2. Who owned the item originally?
  3. Which era is it from?, (ie. Boer War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Cold War, Peacekeeping)
  4. What is the historical significance?, (stories, anecdotes, written documentation)

Which area of the Museum (Army, Navy, Air Force, Library or founding regiment) should the artifact be given to?

Note: Donors will be able to attach up to four optional photos of the artifact. Photos must be in either jpg, jpeg or png format. The maximum filesize is 5 MB.
