About The Founders' Gallery
The Founders’ Gallery at The Military Museums in Calgary, Alberta was officially opened by Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex on 6 June 2009. In 2012, the University of Calgary assumed programming and administrative responsibilities of the gallery. The gallery’s mandate is to explore human conflict worldwide through projects by local, international, historic, and contemporary artists that challenge viewers’ knowledge of and interaction with war. The 4,000 square foot Class A gallery space hosts a minimum of 3 exhibitions a year.
We work closely with departments and faculties at the University of Calgary, other galleries within The Military Museums and the community in general, to promote discourse, learning, research and discovery.
Art Submissions
The Founders’ Gallery accepts art exhibition submissions on an ongoing basis. The gallery looks at artistic vision and merit, relevance to our audiences, diversity, and budget when considering any proposal. Individual artists and curators working in any media or discipline are welcome to apply.
Exhibitions may be selected from submitted proposals as well from those initiated by the curatorial team. For more information, please contact the This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for The Founders' Gallery.
