This lecture will explore the history and contemporary activities of the Canadian Rangers – often touted as the Canadian military’s eyes, ears, and voice in the Canadian Arctic and other remote regions of the country. Topics will include the roles of the Rangers in national defence and in demonstrating Canadian sovereignty, their contributions across various sectors of security, and the dangers of breaking something that is not broken in an era of intensifying interest and expectation.
