Curator Tours of Propaganda! Harbingers For Today (24 Jan)

Propaganda! Harbingers For Today, demonstrates how WW I propaganda shaped Canada in a global context, catalyzing expansive development of the nation during the 1920s and 30s.

Raising topical questions that are still pertinent today, themes include conflict, gender, Indigenous Peoples, migration, and labour, with a particular focus on Alberta.

The project showcases holdings from the University of Calgary’s publicly available Special Collections and Archives, in Libraries and Cultural Resources. Co-curated by Kim Geraldi and Dick Averns.

Runs until February 16, 2026.

Included with admission to The Military Museums. Advanced registration not required.

Images of War; Images of Peace: The Photography of Ken Bell looks at second World War photographer Captain G.K. ‘Ken’ Bell, show was deeply moved by the effects of conflict on the people of North-West Europe. The exhibition examines Bell’s interest in the civilian process of recovery and rebuilding, featuring reproductions from Library and Archives Canada, and related historical artefacts.
