Sgt Sean Mihalcheon was born in Edmonton. He joined the Primary Reserve as a member of the Calgary Highlanders in 2005. He deployed to Afghanistan as a corporal in 2008. He was promoted to master corporal in 2012, and to sergeant in 2014.
