Hub Gray

Korean War 1952-53

Hub Gray (1928 - 2018) was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. To young to serve in the Second World War, Hub joined the Canadian Scottish Regiment in 1945 at the age of 17. In 1950 Hub joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and in Dec 1950 the regiment was in Korea supporting the British 27th Commonwealth Brigade. Hub was in command of a mortar platoon that played a decisive part in the Battle of Kapyong. After the war Hub wrote an account of his time in Korea which he called, "Beyong the Danger Close".
