Michael Hornburg was born in the United States. His son Nathan was a member of the King’s Own Calgary Regiment. Nathan was killed in Afghanistan 24 September 2007 while serving with Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). Michael was diagnosed with a serious medical condition several months after his interview in 2016. He died 24 March 2018.
