CWO Brian Talty was born in Calgary and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1980. After serving in the King’s Own Calgary Regiment, he transferred to Lord Strathcona’s Horse in 1984. He deployed to Cyprus, Bosnia (twice), and Afghanistan. He subsequently transferred from the Regular Force to the Army Reserve, joining the South Alberta Light Horse in Medicine Hat. After serving as the Regimental Sergeant Major of the SALH, he was the Brigade Sergeant Major of 41 Canadian Brigade Group 2015-2019.
