75th Anniversary Commemoration of the Battle of Kapyong

This 75th Anniversary, join Calgary Salutes and TMM for a special commemoration of the brave Canadian troops who fought in the Battle of Kapyong. The Battle of Kapyong was an important episode in the Korean War. The soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry persevered in the face of great adversity to help prevent a potentially costly defeat for the South Korean and UN forces. Their heroic efforts did not go unnoticed with the Americans awarding them the United States Presidential Unit Citation—a very rare honour for a Canadian unit.

The commemoration will include a lecture by University of Calgary Professor Dr David Jay Bercuson BA, MA, PhD, LLD, Royal Society of Canada, Officer Order of Canada and presentations to the Valour Canada Essay winners.

You can also visit the new Battle of Kapyong display in the PPCLI Gallery.

Drinks will be available for purchase and light snacks will be provided.

Doors open at 6:30pm.

Registration is required. Admission is free but donations to TMM are greatly appeciated.
