743 Communications Squadron
The 743 Communications Squadron (formerly the Alberta Signal Squadron) was formed in 1964 with their headquarters at CFB Penhold, Alberta. The Squadron’s role is to provide strategic communications for the Canadian Forces and Emergency Government Communications. The Squadron operates and maintains one of the three major message centers of the Automated Defence Data Network (ADDN) serving all the communication centers and facilities of Western Canada.
Detachments of 743 Communication Squadron are located at CFB Calgary and Suffield to provide for their communication requirements as well as operating and maintaining long range backup radio used for peacetime or war emergency communication requirements.
Motto, "Semper Optimum", which is Latin for, "Always the Best".
