Royal Canadian Air Force
The RCAF was formed in 1920 as the Canadian Air Force. The service was granted Royal sanction in 1924 and in 1968, the RCAF was amalgamated with the other branches of the Armed Services as part of the unification of the Canadian Forces. In 1975 they were placed under Air Command, which was later changed to the original historic name, "Royal Canadian Air Force" in August 2011.
The RCAF served in the Second World War, the Korean War, the First Gulf War and numerous United Nations Peacekeeping missions and NATO operations.
Motto, "Per Ardua ad Astra" which is Latin for "Through adversity to the Stars".
