Clem Gerwing (1920 - 2014) was born in a small rural community in Saskatchewan in 1920. He enlisted in the RCAF in 1941 and was initially posted to England. In 1943 he was assigned to the No.17 RAF Squadron and sent to Ceylon. He flew Hurricanes and Spitfires in the Burmese theatre until 1945. Clem was also the founder of the Alberta Boot Company in Calgary, Alberta.
