Alex Sim

Alex Sim was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1925. At the age of 12 he joined the Military Cadet Corps. In December 1942 he joined the Essex Tank Regiment in Dundurn, Saskatchewan and was sent to England in 1943. In Dec 1943 he transferred to the Regina Rifles, and landed in the first assault wave at Courseulles-sur-Mer on D-Day, 6 June 1944. He continued to serve in North West Europe as a Bren Gunner until the end of the war.
In August 1950 Alex joined 2PPCLI (Special Force), and sailed for Korea in Nov 1950 and served as a Scout Platoon Sgt until Sept 1951. Alex was with the PPCLI during the Battle of Kapyong in April 1951.Interview with Alex Sim
