Rollie Soper

Korean War 1952-53

Roland Soper was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta in 1932. He played football and worked in logging camps in BC as a youth. After the Korean War broke out he enlisted with the PPCLI and was sent overseas in March 1952. After further training in Japan he was posted to Honshu Island to work in the Officers' Mess. After a few months there he was sent to Korea in Aug 1952 where he joined 3PPCLI. He was sent to the front lines where he experienced artillery barrages and static trench warfare before he was sent home in March 1953.
