LCol (Ret’d) Lee Villiger was born in West Germany, the son of a career soldier. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1983 as a member of the Calgary Highlanders. He began his Army Reserve career as a private, was commissioned two years later, and eventually rose to command his regiment. He took part in a technical assistance visit (TAV) to Afghanistan in 2006, and deployed to the West Bank in 2010.
