WO Kristopher Porlier was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2001, serving in 15 Field Ambulance in Edmonton. He deployed to British Columbia in 2003 as part of Operation PEREGRINE, the military effort to assist in fighting wildfires. In 2008 he deployed to Afghanistan.
