Birthday Parties

Birthday parties at The Military Museums are best suited for children ages 6-12.

During the school year (September - May), birthday parties are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:00 - 12:00 noon and 1:00 - 3:00 PM. During summer (June - August), birthdays may be booked during weekdays and weekends.

Bookings are subject to the availability of our staff, so please include alternative dates. Birthday requests must be received three weeks in advance of the booking date. If requested, a room is available for one hour before or one hour after the birthday party for cake and presents. You are welcome to have pizza delivered to the museum. You are responsible for bringing your own utensils, plates, and cups, and for cleaning the room afterward.

Birthday parties include the following activities for a well-rounded two-hour program:

Relay Race

Participate in a relay race and obstacle course modelled on basic training. This activity involves teamwork, speed, and problem-solving. Try on load-bearing vests, kevlar jackets, and helmets - the full fighting order of a combat soldier.

Artefact-Handling Session

Learn about and examine Second World War and contemporary artefacts, including gas masks, camouflage, body armour, and shrapnel.

Gallery Tour

Take a guided tour through one of our many galleries and hear about Canada’s Victoria Cross winners, life in the trenches, and the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan.

Uniform Try-On

Choose a uniform and learn about a soldier’s rank, unit, trade, and medals. Wear the uniform while participating in most of the day’s activities.

Marching Drill

Experience the discipline required of a Canadian soldier. Learn how to march, stand at attention, and salute.
